bobbiesquares:
Hey everyone! I've finally gotten around to installing some of those Dragon Age: Origins mods I've had saved, and I thought I'd make a masterpost of the mods I'm currently using, for my own reference as well as your perusal. This post will be updated as I add more mods!
update 4.26.2018
This is mostly a note to myself so I can pick back up where I left off on installing and troubleshooting mods.
I can't run DAO Modmanager or CharGenMorphCompiler, bc Ryuu is dumb and says I don't have access to the override folders, even though this is the admin account. So, I tried using the Nexus mod manager, but so many of the DAO mods I use are so old that the Nexus mod manager doesn't support them, and I have to install them manually anyway.
Still, I didn't let that stop me from installing a shitton of new mods!
Keep in mind, override mods are easily uninstalled, but dazips are not (since the Modmanager isn't working). Install through NMM if you can, and if you use DAUpdater, know that you can only disable the mod through the DLC menu, not uninstall it completely.
Double-check that the mods listed as 'manual' can't have individual files downloaded through NMM. Improved Atmosphere must be installed manually to modify which parts are installed, and anything that includes patches must be installed manually for the same reason (mainly Ferelden Elves and its associated mods).
In order of installation:
Dragon Age Origins Skin Mod
- Improved Atmosphere(manual, override). Everything except 7.1, 7.4, and 7.5. MUST be installed before starting a new game.
- Improved Atmosphere Fixpack(manual, override). MUST be installed before starting a new game.
- [Awakening] Law and Order bugfix(NMM, override)
- [Awakening] Baroness Reward fix(manual, override)
- [Awakening] Silverite Mines bugfix(NMM, override)
- [Awakening] Blackblade Armor Dragon Drop fix(NMM, override)
- [Awakening] Ending cutscene fixes(NMM, override)
- [Awakening] Companion Joining ritual fixes(NMM, override)
- Morrigan Restoration Patch(manual, dazip). Include the Additional_Epilogue_Fix and Slidefixes_Bella_Kaitlyn (under 'Update Files' in the 'Files' tab).
- ZDF Dialog Fix(manual, override). MAKE SURE to open the readme and delete ALL FILES listed as conflicting with Improved Atmosphere, even if the readme says to delete them from IA. IA is more up-to-date than ZDF.
- Grey Wardens of Ferelden(manual, dazip (core) and override (main file)). After downloading the main file, move ONLY the Improved Atmosphere folder into your override folder.
- Elf Update(manual, override). Necessary for Ferelden Elves.
- Tucked Hair(manual, override). Necessary for Ferelden Elves.
- Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors(manual, override). Necessary for Ferelden Elves.
- Tranquil Brand (NMM, override). Install ONLY the Tranquil Brand file from the Mages of Ferelden mod.
- Ferelden Elves(manual, override). Custom Skin, Zathrian Head Fix, Grey Wardens of Ferelden AND Improved Atmosphere - Patch, and Tranquil Brand by Dracomies - Patch, files. MUST be installed before starting a new game as an elf (including all previous required mods).
- After unzipping this and the previous required mods into the override folder, run Chargenmorph Compiler. If/when it stops working, double-check that a new chargenmorph xml has been added to the top level of the override folder, and then go through and manually delete the others from the mods listed in the Chargenmorph Compiler app. The xmls should be compiled, you just need to delete the duplicates.
- No Helmet Hack(NMM (individually), dazip). Install both Origins and Awakening files.
- Extra Dog Slot(NMM, dazip)
- MerAnne's Camp Storage(NMM, dazip)
- Character Respecialization(NMM, dazip)
- Practical Morrigan Robe(NMM, override)
- Neutral Female Armor - Heavy and Medium(NMM, override)
- Boob patches be gone(NMM, override)
Dragon Age Origins Mod Tool
After I installed Boob patches be gone (through NMM), the game crashed when it tried to load my save. I tried patching DAO's memory to 4GB using a program linked to in IA, figuring that my shitton of mods was the problem, but then the game wouldn't launch at all. Dragon Age Origins Natural Bodies Mod Installation Guide
So, I backed up all my mods, uninstalled DAO, and deleted all my mods from the SteamApps folder and the Documents folder. I'm going to try reinstalling the game and then adding the mods back in, using NMM where possible, to see if it crashes again.
